Feira de Santana councilor’s brother is brutally murdered at home

The brother of the mayor of Feira de Santana, the second largest city in Bahia, Eremita Mota, was killed with a knife, hammer and pickaxe, on Tuesday (23), in the Tomba neighborhood. According to the Civil Police, a 26-year-old man, who is a neighbor of the victim, was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime.

The victim was identified as Crispim Mota de Jesus, 65 years old. There is still no information about the motivation for the crime.

According to the police, the victim’s wife was injured, was rescued and taken to a hospital in the city. She has already been discharged and is doing well.

The murder happened moments after Crispim and his wife arrived home, around 5pm. The suspect entered the couple’s property by jumping over the wall of their own house, which is next to the victims.

The Civil Police reported that the suspect tried to hide and was found on top of a water tank in another neighboring house. The weapons used in the crime were seized and sent to forensic experts.

According to the police, the suspect was taken to the Feira de Santana Homicide Police Station (DH), which will investigate the murder. He underwent criminal examinations and is being held in Complexo do Sobradinho, awaiting the custody hearing.

In a statement, Eremita Mota lamented his brother’s death and asked for justice.

“With great sadness in my heart, I come to share some very painful news. My beloved brother, Crispim Mota, passed away late this Tuesday afternoon (23), leaving a huge void in our hearts,” he said.

The councilor also thanked the kind messages she has received on social media.

“The pain I feel especially for the way he was killed is indescribable, difficult to put into words. What strengthens me at this moment is my faith in God and belief in justice.”

“My family and I are deeply shaken and we urgently ask for your prayers. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the attention and affection shown. Justice will certainly prevail. -
