On the first day of the visit, the Portuguese
visited Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, and from there they began the adventure, passing through the Kalahari Desert until reaching Mariental.
It was when they were on their way of the largest sand dunes in the country’s desert, in the Kuiseb Valley south of the capital, which ended up being victims of an accident. Around 3pm local time,Two buses collided. That region, located south of the capital of Namibia, Windhoek, attracts many tourists from all over the world who take safaris further north, in the Etosha park and also in the areas of Walvis Bay, a starting point for excursions to the mythical skeleton coast and park Namib-Naukluft National Park, home to what is considered the oldest desert on Earth.
The Portuguese agency that organized the trip reacted to the tragedy, regretting the death of the two tourists. “OSCARTUR guarantees to be in direct contact with local authorities to ensure the safe return of the remaining tourists. OThe consulates of Portugal and Namibia have maintained contact”, reads a statement to which the CM had access.
