Doctor dies after accident involving two cars and three trucks on BR-282, in SC | Santa Catarina

Doctor Alexandre Antonio Koerich, aged 51, died on Wednesday (24) after a traffic accident involving two cars and three trucks. The collision happened on Tuesday (23) in Ponte Serrada, in the west of Santa Catarina.

The collision happened at km 40 of BR-282. Koerich was taken to a health unit with injuries, but he did not survive. Two other people had minor injuries.

The information about the death was confirmed by the Hospital Regional São Paulo (HRSP) this Thursday (25), where the victim was hospitalized and worked as an emergency room attendant.

The death occurred around 2:30 pm, according to the HRSP. The health unit, located in Xanxerê, also in the West, issued a note of condolence over the death of the professional.

“The management, clinical staff and collaborators express deep condolences and solidarity with family and friends.”

Hospital São Francisco, in Concórdia, also mourned the death of the professional, who worked at the institution. In a statement, the unit expressed solidarity with the professional’s friends and family.

“The memories and feelings of gratitude for the services provided for the health of our patients and the community remain with us,” the organization wrote.

The doctor was driving a Fiat vehicle when the collision occurred. The victim was trapped in the vehicle and, according to the Fire Department, was removed from the car with fractures and cuts on his body.

The driver of one of the trucks involved in the accident was found with a cut on his face by rescuers and taken to Hospital Santa Luzia, in Ponte Serrada.

The driver of the other truck did not have visible injuries, was treated at the scene and refused to go to a health unit.
