Votorantim (SP) confirmed, this Thursday (25), the third death from dengue in 2024. The city recorded 3,302 cases of the disease.
According to city hall, the victim is a 63-year-old man. The date of death was not disclosed. There is no information whether the elderly person had any comorbidities.
Due to the epidemiological situation in the city, the city hall opened an exclusive care center for patients with symptoms of the disease. The inauguration was on April 15th.
There, the patient can undergo exams and monitor their health conditions. The person, upon arriving at the unit, is seen at reception, taken to the triage room and subsequently directed to a consultation with a doctor on duty. If necessary, the patient returns to the nursing department to receive hydration or medication.
The Dengue Center operates from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 9pm, and is next to the Dr. Lauro Roberto Fogaça Municipal Hospital. Access is via Antônio Walter Street, close to the intersection with Isaltino Dias Street, in the city center.
In addition to the Dengue Center, the City Hall also advises patients with mild symptoms of the disease to seek medical care at one of the 16 Basic Health Units (UBSs) and the Family Health Strategy (ESF).
Exclusive care centers for the disease are open at the UBSs in Parque Bela Vista and Jardim Novo Mundo, from Monday to Friday, from 1pm to 9pm.
