After two days of trial, the sentencing council of the Jury Court of the District of Aripuanã (1002 km northwest of Cuiabá) convicted three women and one man of qualified homicide and corruption of minors and one man of qualified murder, kidnapping and imprisonment private. Presided over by judge Rafaella Karlla de Oliveira Barbosa, the trial session lasted 21 hours and took place on Tuesday and Wednesday (23 and 24/04), at the District Forum.

Defendant LA was sentenced to 23 years, 8 months and 20 days in prison to be served in an initial closed regime for qualified homicide, kidnapping and false imprisonment. The other defendants MCB and the defendants LPRS, NHRS, MGPR were sentenced to 17 years and 4 months’ imprisonment in an initial closed regime for qualified homicide and corruption of a minor.

The crime occurred in the early hours of January 13, 2021, on a rural property in the municipality of Aripuanã, when the victims, 46-year-old MJS and his 23-year-old son, were captured by the criminals.

A man and an armed teenager, traveling in a car, captured the 23-year-old boy, tied him up and forced him to take the suspects to his father. Once at the residence, the suspects tied up the father, who was taken to the banks of a river.

While the son remained in the car, the victim MJS was shot dead with a .32 caliber revolver-type firearm. After the crime, the suspects returned to the vehicle in which the boy was kept tied up and released him into the city. The victim then sought out the Military Police and reported what had happened.

During the investigations, the involvement of six suspects was identified, one teenager, two men and three women, family members of the murdered man.
