Waterford vs Derry City – Friday 26th April 2024 – KO 7.45pm – RSC

SSE Airtricity Premier Division

After back to back home games, City are on this road this Friday with a long trip to the South East to face Waterford.

The Blues are currently on a run of three games unbeaten with an impressive win away in Dalymount followed up by draws with Galway United and St Patrick’s Athletic.

City bounced back on Monday night with an impressive win against St Patrick’s Athletic after Friday night’s loss to Shamrock Rovers. The Candystripes are part of a tightly bunched pack near the top of the table, with only 3 points separating the top four sides.

City defeated Keith Long’s side 3-0 earlier in the season, the heaviest defeat for the Munster side so far this season. But with the home side only conceding once in their last three games, this may be a tighter affair.

Assistant boss Paul Hegarty expected that the same squad that have been available for the recent home games to make the trip to the RSC this weekend

“We have one or two carrying knocks from Monday night so we will assess them in training this week.”

“We look like we are going to score goals and everyone gets confidence out of that.”

“There is a belief in the squad that we will create chances. Danny (Mullen) has been excellent in the last few games and has added a new dimension.”

“With Pat coming back as well, they are a real threat no matter who they play against.”
