The São Paulo police asked, for the third time, the arrest of the driver who caused a death at more than 100 km/h. A military police officer’s camera recorded what happened after the crash.
A woman who saw the crash told police what happened:
“We were the first ones to get down and help them out of the car. And then they wanted to run away and everything, and we held them back.”
While talking to other people, a police officer noticed that Fernando Sastre was trying to leave.
“No, take him there. Oxe, oxe, oxe”, he advises.
The PM’s body camera captured the conversation between the police officers, the sports car driver and his mother, Daniela Cristina de Medeiros, who arrived shortly after the accident.
PM: Oh, oh, oh. Were you the driver of the car? OK. So, we just have to qualify him. Where’s your driver’s license?
Daniela: It’s all been over for him, it’s all been over with him.
PM: But you can’t take him out of here like that. We have to qualify first and then you can withdraw.
The mother says she wanted to take her son to the hospital:
“I want to take him for x-rays.”
The police officer asks his colleague if he has a breathalyzer in the car: “Do you have a breathalyzer?” And listen: “It does not have”.
According to the regulations, not every vehicle is required to carry a breathalyzer, also called a breathalyzer, but in these cases it is normal to ask another team for the equipment.
Daniela insists on getting Fernando out of there.
Fernando’s uncle: Daniela, has the doctor already examined him?
Daniela: No not yet. That’s why I want to take him.
The police officer asks Fernando what happened.
“We were leaving the party. We were going to my house to play pool. Then, out of nowhere, a horrible accident happened and… This happened. I don’t remember anything anymore”, he says.
PM: Which hospital are you going to take him to?
Daniela: To São Luiz.
PM: OK.
Daniela: Can go?
PM: You can, you can go there.
But, when he gave a statement at the police station, Fernando’s mother said they were not in the hospital and went home.
A firefighter who responded to the incident told the police officer that Fernando was drunk.
Fireman: Did the family take it?
PM: He took him, his mother took him to the hospital.
Fireman: Yeah, those guys were a little drunk, right?
PM: Yes yes.
Experts from the Institute of Criminalistics carried out a scan of the avenue this Thursday (25). The material will be used to create a video of the reconstruction of the crash.
The businessman and his mother were also charged with fleeing the scene of the accident.. For the third time, the police asked the court to arrest the driver.
O National Newspaper contacted the defense of Fernando Sastre Filho and his mother, but received no response.
