A collision between two vehicles, including an ambulance from the S. João da Madeira Fire Department, caused two injuries, on Estrada Nacional 223. This is not the first time that vehicles from this association have suffered collisions.

Three people were injured in a collision between a car and an INEM ambulance from the S. João da Madeira fire department, on Estrada Nacional 223 (EN223), in Sanfins, last Wednesday, the 17th, at around 10 pm.
Normando Oliveira, commander of the S. João da Madeira Fire Department, told ‘O Regional’ that a light vehicle “left its lane, the reasons for which are still unknown and collided with the ambulance that was traveling to Hospital São Sebastião , in Santa Maria da Feira, with a patient suffering from a sudden illness”.
This official adds that the firefighters “did not suffer any damage”, the same did not happen to the drivers of the vehicle, who the VMER doctor in Santa Maria da Feira “assessed as mildly ill”.
The injured women were assisted by the ambulance crew and, later, by a VMER medical team. The two victims of the collision and the patient who was transported by firefighters were taken to the Feira hospital.
Firefighters from S. João da Madeira, Santa Maria da Feira and Lourosa were mobilized to the site. The road was completely closed during their rescue.
This was not the first time there was a serious accident involving ambulances from S. João da Madeira. “We’ve had some complicated situations, but, fortunately, with this device it doesn’t happen again”, assures Normando Oliveira.
The GNR took charge of the incident.
