The owner of the farm where the dead man worked was arrested

The Civil Police arrested, this Saturday (27), the owner of the farm where a man was found dead, last Wednesday (24), after allegedly being attacked by a jaguar, in Tapurah, 390 km away. from Cuiabá. The farmer was named as a suspect in the worker’s death. According to police, the victim was identified as Dinalto Machado Lopes, 52 years old. The case will be investigated as a homicide. In addition to the arrest, three home search warrants were executed at the property.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Artur Almeida, the Official Expertise and Technical Identification (Politec) ruled out that Dinalto had died from a jaguar attack and that, in fact, It was the victim’s own boss who informed the police that the worker had been attacked by the animal.

“As a result, a police homicide investigation was opened. The investigation will continue until it is completed. The suspect’s cell phone was seized and must undergo forensic examination,” he said.

According to expert Nilton Dalberto, in the place where the body was found, there was no trace that the victim was killed by an animal, but rather by a person.

“We had suspicions from the beginning, as the injuries did not have the patterns expected from an attack by a wild animal, on the contrary, they had characteristics very typical of injuries caused by a bladed weapon,” he said.

On the day the victim was located, the Civil Police reported that the man showed signs of deep scratches and was missing one of his hands. The autopsy examination showed that the worker was shot three times in the chest and that his hand had been torn off by a sharp weapon, due to the precision of the cut.

“There were blunt injuries in the region of the skull, which were done perfectly, as there was no fracture in the skull, which makes the bite of a wild animal of that size, which was a supposed jaguar, uncharacteristic,” explained the technician in autopsy, Simoni Edna.

The case is investigated by the Civil Police.

Last Wednesday (24), Dinalto was found dead in the Pontal do Borges region, in the rural area of Tapurah. According to the Military Police, the suspicion was that he had been attacked by a jaguar while he was repairing the fence on the farm where he worked.

According to the Civil Police, other employees at the property missed the victim, went looking for him and found tracks on the ground that led into the woods.

According to the police, the worker’s body was dragged approximately 300 meters to the edge of the Borges River, which is close to the site. Some people in the neighborhood told the police that they had already seen jaguar cubs in the area.
