On the eve of the end of April, a crime that marked the residents of Nova Andradina does not seem to give eternal rest to the victim, Fernanda Daniele de Paula Ribeiro dos Santos. This is because, almost three years after the murder, which occurred in 2021, the accused Alexandre França Pessoa has not yet been before the Jury Court, which will define his guilt and sentence.
Fernanda Ribeiro was former president of the Municipal Directory of the Social Liberal Party (PSL) of Nova Andradina and was found dead in a cornfield on the banks of MS-276, between Batayporã and Nova Andradina. The body, which was found by members of the public, had a deep cut on the neck.
The accused is lawyer Alexandre França Pessoa, Fernanda’s ex-boyfriend. The lawyer was arrested in April 2021 for the crime, but was released in October of the same year. In February 2022, he was ‘behind bars’ again, this time for attacking his ex-wife, also in Nova Andradina.
At the time, his defense even asked for provisional release again, however, it was denied because elements demonstrated the concrete seriousness of the defendant’s conduct, in addition to indications of “extreme aggressiveness and dangerousness on the part of the patient, harmful to safety and social security” , as published in the Diário da Justiça on March 3, 2022.
O Midiamax Newspaper found that the Batayporã court gave a ruling, that is: it agreed that there is evidence of authorship and materiality of the accusations made against Alexandre, and forwarded the case to the Jury Court, which had been scheduled for January 24, 2022, for the crimes of qualified feminicide for futile reasons and with an appeal that made it impossible to defend the victim, as well as concealment of a corpse and procedural fraud.
The accused’s defense, however, filed an appeal against the decision to take the case to a popular jury. However, it was judged impromptu, that is, the Court did not agree with the defense’s arguments, maintaining the first instance judge’s sentence.
Again, Alexandre’s defense sought to appeal the Court’s decision, trying to take the case to the STJ (Supreme Judiciary Court). The appeals were denied, with the decision dated October 31, 2023 becoming final.
The case returned to the Batayporã Court on January 31, 2024, which ordered a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, responsible for the complaint and accusation of the defendant, and the defense, so that the judge could finalize the report and determine its inclusion on the Jury’s agenda. .
This period ended on the 5th. This way, the Jury Court can be scheduled at any time.
Complaint
The lawyer was denounced by the MPMS (Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul) in June 2021. The police investigation found, in conversations obtained on one of Alexandre’s cell phones, that he and the victim arranged a meeting that day.
After killing Fernanda with a knife to the neck, he dragged her body to the cornfield, which was only found the following morning. He also started sending messages to Fernanda in order to distance himself from being responsible, tried to clean the used car and changed his clothes.
He also altered the state of the victim’s body, cleaning her forearms and removing any belongings that could identify her.
For the MPMS, the lawyer artificially innovated, altering the state of person and things, in order to mislead the judge and expert. In this way, he is also responsible for procedural fraud.
Alexandre was charged with triple homicide, using cruel means, a resource that made the victim’s defense difficult and committed against a woman, due to her condition, in a context of domestic violence. According to the indictment, the couple had already been in a relationship for more than 1 year and 8 months and had a stable union contract.

Lawyer Alexandre França Pessoa was arrested three days later, on May 2 of the same year. He even had a hypertension crisis after being arrested. He received hospital care, where he was hospitalized for three days, and was then taken to prison. He was held in custody for months at the Campo Grande Military Prison, but was released on October 19, 2021 using an electronic ankle bracelet.
The following year, in 2022, he was arrested again for attacks against his ex-partner, in the same municipality where he killed Fernanda. The arrest was ordered for non-compliance with the measures imposed to grant provisional freedom.
The defendant should comply with precautionary measures. However, he was reported in a new case of domestic violence, by his ex-wife, and was arrested again to guarantee public order. The lawyer still denied the attack. Alexandre’s ex-wife went to the police station after the lawyer tried to hang her.
After the complaint, an arrest warrant was issued for failure to comply with the protective measure that the victim has against the author.
