Villas-Boas is the new president of FC Porto: the election results

Now it’s official: André Villas-Boas is the new president of FC Porto!

According to official data published on the club’s website, list B, led by the former Dragons coach, collected 21,489 votes (i.e. 80.28 percent) and surpassed, by a large margin, the list headed by Pinto da Costa , which received 5,224 votes (19.52 percent).

O More footballmoreover, it had been found that Villas-Boas won in all 44 voting tables.

List C, by Nuno Lobo, had just 53 votes (0.002 percent). There were also 110 blank or invalid votes.

At the campaign headquarters, the elected leader spoke to the members of the blue and white club and stated that «FC Porto is free again».

André Villas-Boas, it should be noted, will be the 32nd president in history for FC Porto, and is elected for the four-year period 2024-2028.

In these elections, 26,876 FC Porto members voted, which more than doubled the club’s highest ever turnout, which dated back to 1988 (10,731 members).

This record exceeds the record number of voters in Sporting’s elections (22,510 members), which took place in 2018 and ended with Frederico Varandas as president. Further away is the absolute record in Portuguese clubs, which belongs to Benfica. In the 2021 elections, in which Rui Costa was elected president, 40,115 members voted.

For the Superior Council, list B elected 15 members, against four from list A, by Pinto da Costa, and one from list D, by Miguel Brás da Cunha, who ran only for this body.

In a vote using the Hondt method, Villas-Boas thus obtained three-quarters of the twenty members elected to the consultative body.
