Texas improves to 26-18 overall and 12-8 in Big 12 play, while OU falls to 26-15 overall and 15-5 in conference action. Jalin Flores and Casey Borba each had two RBIs for Texas, and Chase Lummus got the win on the mound. Kyson Witherspoon took the loss. Anthony Mackenzie led the Sooners to the plate, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Easton Carmichael went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Jalin Flores extended Texas’ lead with a two-out RBI double to left field that scored Will Gasparino.

Texas’ Kimble Schuessler hit a solo homer off starter Kyson Witherspoon with one out before Witherspoon was replaced by Carter Campbell. Later in the inning with two outs, Will Gasparino gave Texas a 6-5 lead with a solo shot that sailed well past the left field wall. After walking the next two batters, Campbell was replaced by Reid Hensley, who hit a batter and walked in a run before being replaced by Dylan Crooks.

OU’s Anthony Mackenzie drove in Michael Snyder on a single off Texas reliever Chase Lummus to get the Sooners back on top. Mackenzie is 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

Texas’ Jared Thomas scored on a wild pitch to tie it at 2 with two outs, then Casey Borba drove in two runs on a single up the middle. But the Longhorns’ lead didn’t last long as OU’s Anthony Mackenzie hit a two-RBI double in the bottom of the frame, tying it at 4.

Jalin Flores got Texas on the scoreboard with an RBI double down the right field line that scored Jared Thomas, but OU responded as Easton Carmichael hit a single that drove in John Spikerman. The Sooners then took a 2-1 lead as Michael Snyder stole second base and Carmichael scored on Texas’ pickoff attempt. Kyson Witherspoon was named OU’s starting pitcher, while Ace Whitehead got the start for Texas.
