The causes of the accident will be investigated. “Forensics were on site to identify and collect traces that will support the investigation into the cause and circumstances of the accident”, says a note sent by the Civil Police. The first information indicates that the driver lost control and hit a wall, falling onto the road.
Another 32 passengers suffered minor or serious injuries and were taken to hospitals in the region, according to the Federal Highway Police. The bus would have left Caruaru, in Pernambuco, bound for São Paulo, according to information from the Fire Department. The vehicle also passed through Vitória da Conquista, in Bahia.
Witnesses reported that at least 54 people were transported in the vehicle. The bus driver was not located, but the corporation was unable to say whether he was among the victims. The Fire Department also reported that it did not locate the list of passengers.
The report also tries to locate the company responsible for the bus.
Bus had expired documentation
Vehicle documentation is expired. In a note, ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) informed that the vehicle safety certificate had expired. In other words, the trip is considered irregular.
