Prices for extra eggs fell further in markets monitored by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq/USP in recent days.

According to some of the employees consulted, as the end of the month approaches, the demand for protein has weakened significantly, a common trend for the period.

Therefore, Cepea researchers explain that negotiations at lower prices have resumed, to guarantee the liquidity of the product and avoid surpluses in stocks.

On Friday (26/4), in the producing region of Bastos (SP), a box with 30 dozen white eggs was priced at R$ 149.39. The average price for a box of red eggs was R$179.45.

Still according to Cepea surveys, the expectation is that, with the turn of the month, negotiations will involve larger volumes, however, at stable or slightly higher prices.
