A serious accident involving two trucks was recorded in the early hours of Tuesday (30), on the Castello Branco highway, near Barueri (SP). One of the vehicles was sandwiched between a trailer and the guardrail, being consumed by fire. The collision occurred between kilometers 25 and 26 of the road.
All that was left of the pressed truck was the carcass. One was loaded with soybeans and the other with corn, leaving the items scattered on the road. Two lanes were closed, causing a traffic jam of at least 3 kilometers, towards Cebolão.
According to the driver who was driving the trailer loaded with corn, trucks loaded with bricks on the road were traveling slowly, occupying the right lane. The other vehicles traveling at a higher speed, including the two involved in the accident, were on the right.
Then, the driver of the soybean trailer hit the side of the truck loaded with corn, pressing the vehicle into the protective wall. The two were dragged for around 100 meters, setting the vehicles on fire.
Images recorded by the helicopter SBT raise suspicions about the dynamics of the accident: one of the trucks may have been hit from behind, with the other being pressed. The trailer with the remaining load of soybeans was towed at around 6:20 am.
The Fire Department, which sent 6 vehicles in support of the CCR concessionaire, which manages the road, did not confirm any injuries.
In the capital, the south zone was the one that recorded the most traffic, with 19 kilometers of slowdowns. In the east, at around 6:30 am, it was 8 kilometers, while the center recorded 6. In the north, 5 kilometers and, in the west, 9.
Dutra Highway also records an accident; truck driver was injured
Hours earlier, on Monday night (29), a truck driver was injured in another accident, on the Dutra highway, in Guarulhos (SP). The vehicle was loaded with bags of garlic and coffee, and fell onto the road.
The accident was recorded at kilometer 211. The driver was traveling in the capital direction when he lost control of the steering wheel, hit a vehicle and then overturned. Part of the load was scattered on the road.
The driver was rescued from the wreckage and taken to Guarulhos General Hospital, with no risk of death. The driver of the struck vehicle was not injured.
