Although death was declared after the accident, it is not clear that the death was directly related to the “slight impact” of the vehicle. “The victim was sitting on the seat with his seat belt on, with no signs, to the naked eye, that he was injured,” a witness to the accident explained to JN.

The driver of the damaged vehicle, wife of the fatal victim, was taken by the Volunteer Firefighters to the emergency room at Hospital Padre Américo, in Penafiel, to be treated for the minor injuries she suffered in the collision.
The accident occurred at around 9.20 am. Firefighters from Marco, SIV from Cinfães and VMER from Vale do Sousa provided assistance. The Alpendorada GNR took charge of the incident.
