Pedro Santana Lopes announced that the Figueira da Foz urban circular line will start operating this May. «We don’t like to conform and the Intermunicipal Community (CIM) of the Coimbra Region has been slow in the transport process», justified yesterday the president of the City Council.
The connection will be between the current Bus Terminal, Buarcos and Tavarede, returning to the Bus Terminal, with departures every hour and going twice a day to Cabo Mondego (9:45 am and 6:15 pm). The stops to be used by the Circular Line are the same as those used for AVIC routes. The routes favor commercial areas, such as Bairro Novo, Camping Park and shopping centers, said the mayor, at yesterday’s Municipal Assembly, which took place in the Noble Hall of the Town Hall.
For Santana Lopes, «this is, obviously, a normal process in any city worthy of the name». «This is urban transport that will satisfy a lot of people. This weekend I met people who asked me where they could catch the bus to Buarcos or Cabo Mondego. I told them that it wasn’t easy, but that we were solving it», he told the session.
Despite recognizing that the process has been quite laborious, Pedro Santana Lopes assured that «from this month of May, Figueira da Foz will have the urban circular line» and made a point of displaying the printed pages with the respective timetables before the Municipal Assembly. . «Obviously, in this first phase, there will be an experimental component», he warned.
