Audio records conversation and six shots in 15 seconds in the murder of a couple in dispute over

The attack took place in the Surrão neighborhood, on the couple’s property. Jânio was hit in the abdomen and died a day after the crime, on Wednesday (24). His wife, shot in the head and mouth, died five days later, on Sunday (28), at the Roraima General Hospital (HGR), where she was admitted in serious condition in the ICU. It is suspected that the crime was motivated by a land dispute.

Two suspects, Genivaldo Lopes Viana, 53 years old, It is Luiz Lucas Raposo da Silva, 35 years old, were arrested on suspicion of murdering the couple, and three other people are being investigated for their participation in the crime (understand below). g1 sought the defense of the prisoners, but received no response until the last update of this report.

In the audio, recorded by Flávia, it is possible to hear two men talking to the farmer about ownership of the property where he lived with his wife. In the conversation, one of the suspects says that the land is his and makes a proposal for Jânio to move in, which he denied. See the transcript below.

Jânio Bonfim: (…) Now you come to make a proposal to want to take me off earth to take me to another [terra] saying that this place is yours (…) no, no, no (sic).

Another man explains that he understands the farmer’s situation, who has already incurred expenses on the property, but reports that incident records were made and that the situation would be resolved. In a part of the recording, which lasts more than six minutes, Flávia states that their property is regularized.

Suspect 2: It will stop, a report has already been made, everything has been done, it has already been sent there. Just yesterday I spoke to the president there, understand? We’re going to develop this situation (…) but okay, we came there to see.

Afterwards, while the farmer talks to them, Flávia emphasizes that they want to “take all of our land (sic)”. She is interrupted by one of the men, the first to talk in the audios, and the couple are then shot. (check out the transcript of the moment below).

Suspect 1: They said I was armed, I don’t know what. I really am armed.
After this Two gunshots and screams are heard.
Suspect 2: Don’t do that, don’t do that.
Suspect 1: Come on, come on, come on.
Afterwards, four more shots were heard.

When contacted, the Civil Police informed that the General Homicide Police Station (DGH) started to act in the double homicide investigationafter formal designation by the General Department in the face of “new events, reporting on media files recorded by the farmer” and stored on a cell phone presented at the DGH headquarters.

“The investigations are seeking to reach everyone involved in the case, as well as clarify the identity of the interlocutors who appear in the recording that went viral on social media about the case”, he highlighted.

After the crime, Civil Police agents began investigations and found that a witness who helped the couple was also threatened by the four men the day before the crime. Two men were arrested.

The witness and the farmer had agreed to plant beans on part of the land. On Monday (22), the witness was looking at the place where they would plant the plantation when the four men arrived and one of them was armed with a 380 caliber pistol.

According to the witness, who even spoke to the farmer about the threats, he stated that the land belonged to him and was fully documented.

“The victim told this witness that he owned the land and that he had all the supporting documentation, but that he had previously received other threats from the suspects and had even registered a Police Report about these threats”, said the municipality’s chief delegate, Ronaldo Sciotti.

Investigations also showed that the two men were in a store and bought ammunition and were also together when the victims had their land invaded and were shot.

Genivaldo Lopes, 53, and Luiz Lucas Raposo, 35, were arrested one day after the crime, on Wednesday (24). On that occasion, they were interrogated by the police chief, accompanied by a lawyer, and used their constitutional right to only speak in court.
