Ian Mellor, former Manchester City striker, died this Wednesday, his son announced in a message shared on social media. The 74-year-old former English striker was battling a rare disease that had affected several organs.
“We are all devastated by the loss of my father. A huge thank you to St Ann’s Hospice and the brilliant team who helped him in these last few days when he struggled so much. My father, my hero. Thank you for everything. I love you,” he wrote son Neil, former Liverpool striker and current commentator on Sky Sports.
It should be noted that Ian Mellor only represented two clubs in his career. He played for Manchester City between 1970 and 1972 before moving to Norwich City.
