Association of the Third Age Group of Ouro Preto receives space for its headquarters

The City Council acquired properties with excellent structure and location in the Saramenha neighborhood, on Rua Simão Lacerda. There are two houses, one with 344 square meters, and the other with 76 square meters, the larger of which was ceded to the Association of the Elderly Group of Ouro Preto (AGTI) through lending, and the smaller will be destined for the Reference Center of the Elderly, linked to the Municipal Secretariat for Social Development and Citizenship.

The assignment will take place for a period of 30 years and AGTI will carry out its daily activities following its normal routine, and will be able to participate in the actions of the Reference Center for the Elderly, which aims to develop the physical, emotional and cognitive conditions of the elderly. from the exchange of experiences.

Taking a look back to explain how the current negotiation took place, it all started during the administration of Mayor Angelo Oswaldo, in 2011. At that time, Angelo sanctioned a law authorizing the donation of two lots so that the Association could build, in seven years, its own headquarters , what did not happen.

In 2018, a new law extended the deadline and, in 2022, it was revoked, reverting the property to the Municipality in order to serve public interests with the construction of the Autoparque Bauxita parking lot. In this sense, the mayor committed to finding a headquarters for the Association and this was accomplished with the purchase of the property inaugurated on April 17th of this year. It is worth noting that Autoparque Bauxita will be opened in May this year.

AGTI’s new headquarters has large, well-ventilated internal spaces, as well as an outdoor area with a swimming pool and green space that allows members to carry out different activities. This was even considered by the president of the Association, Alice Marinho, who celebrated the achievement by highlighting that, for around 30 years, they have been trying to build a space, without success. It demonstrated its intention to diversify its activities from now on, as it has a new headquarters that allows for future planning.
