Announced during CES 2024, in January, the Amazfit Helio Ring finally received details about price and availability this week, and is expected to debut later this month in the US. About to compete with the long-awaited Galaxy Ring and the already well-established Oura Ring, the new product seeks to stand out by featuring a robust titanium construction and by focusing on more intense exercise and strong integration with a smartband or smartwatch.

In a statement published on the 30th, Zepp (responsible for the Amazfit brand) announced that the Helio Ring will be launched this month in the USA — more regions will receive the accessory, but there are no details on when we can expect this expansion. Another curious point is that initial stock will be limited, with only a few sizes being sold at first.

The novelty arrives, drawing attention to its construction made of titanium alloy, with a finish covered in what appear to be small holes. The feature package is the same as almost all modern wearables, with sensors for measuring heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2) and stress, as well as functions for monitoring sleep with quality levels and athletic recovery data after exercise. exercise practice.

Also similar to other rings, more advanced features will require a subscription to the Zepp Aura AI service, which enables customized sleep sounds based on body response, weekly and monthly sleep health reports, meditation and relaxation sounds, and access to the AI-based trainer Zepp Wellness Coach.

If it seems competitive with competitors like the Oura Ring, currently one of the most popular smart ring models, the Helio Ring must keep up with its rivals’ difficulties when facing a major obstacle: the Galaxy Ring. Even though it may not have innovative features, Samsung’s ring has access to the South Korean giant’s rich ecosystem, as well as the brand’s global reach.

Zepp seems to be aware of this and has positioned the Helio Ring in an ingenious way: not only is the device aimed at professional athletes, it also promises to work better when combined with a smartwatch.

The combined use of accessories seems like an obvious use, but there are a considerable number of users and even companies that have viewed smart rings as replacements for smart watches.

If executed well, integration and a more “niche” focus could be the difference needed to keep the Amazfit ring competitive enough to face the Galaxy Ring’s promising proposal.
