Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Reborn with Cel-Shaded Style Mod

In an attempt to revitalize Marvel vs Capcom InfiniteO influential content creator of fighting games Maximilian Doodwhose real name is Maximillian Christensen, recently announced that commissioned a cel-shaded style mod for the game.

This new aesthetic seeks to get closer to the look of previous titles in the series, such as Marvel vs Capcom 3, released in 2011. Christensen expressed his enthusiasm for the project, hoping that the new look will please both him and other fans who initially distanced themselves from the game due to its original artistic style.

The initial art style of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was widely criticized at the time of the game’s release. Comparisons were made, and many pointed out the unconvincing facial expressions of the characters in a demo of the game, with the image of the character Chun-Li, from the Street Fighter series, becoming a popular meme. This negative reaction to the game’s visuals was one of the reasons that led Christensen to look for an alternative that paid homage to the series’ aesthetic roots.
