Circulation resumed between Vilar Formoso and Guarda after railway accident

O The accident resulted in a serious injury being transported to Coimbra and a slightly injured person being taken to Hospital da Guarda.

Source from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-Regional Command said that the locomotive that was on the line rammed the machine that was carrying out maintenance work on the verge.

“The accident caused one serious injury and one minor injury. The collision occurred at 7:16 am in Miuzela, in the municipality of Almeida”, he said.

Resources from the Almeida fire department, the GNR and the Vilar Formoso Red Cross, the Guarda Medical Emergency Vehicle (VMER) and the INEM helicopter were mobilized to the location.
