The businessman who drove at high speed and caused the death of an app driver is considered a fugitive

The arrest warrant was issued this Saturday afternoon (4). Civil police officers went to Fernando Sastre Filho’s house, but only his father was there. He told agents that his son will report on Monday (6) and that he doesn’t know where he is.

Fernando Sastre Filho’s defense said that the court’s decision will be complied with, but that they fear that he will be harassed in prison. Therefore, he wants to talk to the judge responsible for the case and ensure that Fernando is taken to a safe place.

“From the first moment, when he found out, he said: ‘Let’s do it.’ in which you are not harassed. If you have to pay the penalty like anyone else, you can pay, but not suffer beyond what the law determines'”, said Jonas Marzagão, defense lawyer.

In the decision, the reporting judge João Augusto Garcia cited the report from the Scientific Police, which indicated that Fernando Sastre Filho’s luxury car was traveling at 156 kilometers per hour, three times the speed allowed on the avenue.

And he mentioned the report shown by National Newspaper last Tuesday (30), which exclusively showed that Fernando’s license was suspended in October last year because he participated in a car race on Avenida Paulista.

Fernando regained his right to drive a few days before the accident, at the end of March, which caused the death of app driver Ornaldo Viana. Marcus Vinicius Rocha, Fernando’s friend, suffered serious injuries.

This week, Fernando Sastre Filho became a defendant for serious bodily injury and homicide with possible intent, when the risk of killing is assumed.

Fernando Sastre Filho’s defense also announced that it will seek habeas corpus so that he can respond to the lawsuits in freedom.
