The Fiat Mobi has just reached the 2025 line as one of the cheapest cars in Brazil. Sold in just two versions, the hatch recently received a price increase and now starts at R$72,990. Even so, the Italian model does not occupy the position of the most affordable vehicle in the country because of the Renault Kwid, sold for R$72,640 — a difference of R$350.

What is the Fiat Mobi like?

The Fiat Mobi is also the smallest combustion car on sale in Brazil. It is just 3.57 meters long, 1.67 m wide, 1.55 m high and 2.30 m wheelbase. Smaller than it, only the electric Caoa Chery iCar.

This way, it also has one of the smallest trunks: 235 liters of capacity. The Kwid, for example, offers 290 liters. The little car still weighs less than a ton. To be more specific: 967 kg.

Engine and consumption

The two Fiat Mobi configurations are equipped with the veteran 1.0 four-cylinder engine from the Fire line. Thus, they are 74 hp of power and 9.9 kgfm of torque. O Transmission is always a five-speed manual. With this package, the subcompact has a top speed of 154 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 16.6 seconds.

Consumption is 9.6 km/l in the city and 10.4 km/l on the road when fueled with ethanol, in accordance with the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV). With gas in the tank, the numbers rise to 13.5 km/l and 15 km/lrespectively.

It is worth remembering that this engine is the oldest in Brazil and, therefore, will be discontinued after 40 years. This happens because the engine does not meet the efficiency parameters of the Proconve L8, which will come into force in 2025. Therefore, it is most likely that the Mobi will be offered with a 1.0 Firefly engine from next year onwards.

Equipment

  • Fiat Mobi Like: tire pressure sensor, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assistant, DRL, manual height adjustment of the headlight beam, air conditioning, brake-light, electric steering, emergency braking signal, two airbags, ABS brakes, instrument panel with 3.5-inch digital display and 12V socket.

Sales

Despite being one of the cheapest cars in Brazil, the Fiat Mobi is not the best-selling. In 2023, the number of registered units reached 73,887. Thus, it was well behind the Volkswagen Polo (111,242) and the Chevrolet Onix (102,043), for example. On the other hand, it secured more sales than the Renault Kwid, which sold 63,316 copies last year.
