The document, which has already been generally approved in Parliament with 163 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions, includes the specific amendment of 31 articles dealing with economic crimes, crimes against property, people and transport safety.

The amendment to the Penal Code essentially aims to correct and overcome inaccuracies, mistakes and insufficiencies recorded in the Angolan Penal Code, approved by Law no. 38/20, of 11 November.

According to the Bill, the changes also aim to ensure satisfactory implementation and application of the Code.

According to the document, in addition to a more satisfactory application, the diploma will be in line with the effectiveness of the national system for preventing and repressing money laundering.

It should be noted that when it was generally approved, the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Citizenship of Angola, Ana Celeste Januário, highlighted that the three years of validity of the Penal Code allowed Justice and Law operators and the public to contact with the normative reference framework and the study of normative justice solutions.

Among others, articles 28, 39, 75, 122, 194, 197, 281, 283 and 284 of the Penal Code will be changed.
