The weekly GENTE column program spoke with Regina’s nephew, the audiovisual producer Marcelo Yamada60 years old, son of Therezinha Lemos Yamada, who died on May 21, 2016. Marcelo makes harsh accusations against his aunt Regina and José Marcos. According to his report based on testimonies from former employees, his mother Therezinha, who lived with her sister, may have been the victim of a homicide.
“The complaint that came from the employees, which reached me and my brother, is that José Marcos had pushed my mother down the stairs, and that she had broken or injured her arm, and that he had left her in the garden all night , no phone, no food, no water, nothing, as a punishment for her. (…) She (Regina) agreed with Marcos, these two were doing what they wanted. (…) He did all sorts of evil things to her, and she was still in agreement with him until he turned against her.”

As the column had already anticipated, the former driver was reported six and a half years ago for death threats against former employees and neighbors in Regina – including physical attacks on the socialite’s sister. When contacted, José Marcos did not return messages. Therezinha passed away after being admitted to a UPA in Copacabana. The death certificate states that the cause of death was “failure of multiple organs and systems, pulmonary septic shock and systemic arterial hypertension”.
Marcelo also brings to light an episode that occurred in 1969 and was widely reported in the press at the time, when Regina was still engaged to Nestor Gonçalves.
