MEven when someone dies, not all reactions are positive or condolence. Jose Luis Chilavert, former goalkeeper for the Paraguayan national team, reacted sarcastically to the disappearance of Cesar Luis Menotti, former Argentine player and coach.

In response to a video on the social network X, Jose Luis Chilavert once again ‘sparked’ discussions that date back to 1998.

Before a game between Vélez Sarsfield and Independiente, Menotti, then responsible for Avellaneda, said that the Paraguayan goalkeeper “should be taken to schools and universities so that children know what man was like 40 million years ago” , because “Chilavert comes first, then the monkey and then the human being”.

Days later, the Paraguayan goalkeeper recommended “that he should teach philosophy at university” and argued that “in football, what you have to do is work and not live off bullshit”. And Menotti replied: “He’s right. I tell my players that they need to work, so that they don’t appear fat like Chilavert”.

Now, upon coming across the episode on the internet, he commented: “We, monkeys, are still alive and we don’t have children who are addicted to drugs. In the 90s we destroyed them all with Vélez”.
