Almost the same prices

The Creta 2025 line starts with the Action version, which costs R$120,000 and is still from the previous generation. Jumping to the current generation, Hyundai’s SUV has six versions, with the Comfort Plus being the cheapest and starting at R$140,000.

Above it is Limited Safety, which costs R$152,700 and already comes with additional safety items. The same occurs with the Platinum Safety configurations, which vary between R$161 thousand and R$170.3 thousand, with the sunroof as a differentiator.

The N Line option remains the most expensive 1.0 turbo version, selling for almost R$179,000. Above it is the Ultimate, with a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine, for R$184,700. Remembering that the Action entry option is the only one with a 1.6 aspirated engine.

See the prices for Creta 2025:

  • Creta Action 1.6 AT – R$ 119,990 (previous generation)
  • Creta Comfort Plus 1.0 Turbo AT – R$ 140,090
  • Creta Limited Safety 1.0 Turbo AT – R$ 152,690
  • Creta Platinum Safety 1.0 Turbo AT – R$ 160,990
  • Creta Platinum Safety 1.0 Turbo AT + sunroof – R$ 170,290

  • Creta Ultimate 2.0 AT – R$ 184,690

The Renegade saw its brothers Compass and Commander receive some new features, but it remains practically the same.

As a result, the cheapest version continues to be sold for R$118,300, below the entry-level Creta.

The Sport option gives a nice jump in price and costs almost R$144,000, while the best-selling version is the Longitude, which costs R$163,000 and jumps to R$170,000 if it comes with the Dark package. They all use the 1.3 turbo engine with 4×2 traction.

Finally, the Jeep SUV still has the S and Trailhawk versions, both with 4×4 drive and exactly the same price: R$188,000.

Check out the Renegade 2024 values:

  • Renegade 1.3 Turbo 4×2 – R$ 118,290
  • Renegade Sport 1.3 Turbo 4×2 – R$ 143,990
  • Renegade Longitude 1.3 Turbo 4×2 – R$ 162,990
  • Renegade Longitude Dark 1.3 Turbo 4×2 – R$ 169,990
  • Renegade S 1.3 Turbo 4×4 – R$ 187,990
  • Renegade Trailhawk 1.3 Turbo 4×4 – R$ 187,990

WINNER: A tie.

The Renegade is better equipped

The Creta Action (R$ 119,990) seems expensive compared to the Renegade 1.3 (R$ 118,290), as the Hyundai is a previous generation model. Furthermore, it only has the fog lights and the twilight sensor as exclusive items.

Meanwhile, the basic Renegade has 17-inch wheels, six airbags, reversing camera, height-adjustable LED headlights, fatigue indicator, lane change alert with parking assist, collision alert, start/stop, parking brake 7-inch electric parking and multimedia.

Another interesting fight is between the Creta Platinum Safety with sunroof (R$ 170,290) and the Renegade Longitude Dark (R$ 169,990), intermediate versions that stand out for their excellent value for money in their respective ranges.

The Hyundai is more complete, with a 360º camera, A/C with rear outlet, lane centering assistant, electric folding mirrors, panoramic roof, driver’s seat with ventilation, remote start and Auto Hold.

Meanwhile, the Jeep has 18-inch wheels, dual zone A/C, photochromic rear-view mirror, rain sensor and license plate reader as exclusive items. This is thanks to the Dark package, which makes the Longitude version much more interesting.

Arriving at the top, we put the Creta Ultimate (R$ 184,690) and the Renegade S (R$ 187,990) head to head. With maximum equipment, only the Renegade has rear cross traffic alert, all-wheel drive, parking assistant, Wi-Fi and other items already mentioned above.

Meanwhile, the most complete Creta is the only one with adaptive cruise control, in addition to having equipment that its other versions already had and that Jeep does not offer.

In short, the Renegade starts out much better equipped than its rival and the Creta evens out the dispute in the intermediate versions. But Jeep once again offers more at the top of the range.

WINNER: Renegade.

Horse that walks, horse that drinks

The Creta’s range of engines is more complete, starting with the naturally aspirated 1.6 with 130 hp and 16.5 kgfm, connected to the 6-speed automatic transmission (as well as the other engines).

Here, the SUV reaches 100 km/h in 12 seconds and has a top speed of 172 km/h.

Even though it is a reliable engine, most consumers prefer the Creta 1.0 turbo, with 120 hp and 17.5 kgfm. Performance, however, is similar: 11.5 seconds and 180 km/h.

The naturally aspirated 2.0 with 167 hp and 20.6 kgfm is faster, taking 9.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h and reaching a maximum of 190 km/h.

Meanwhile, the Renegade focuses only on the 1.3 turbo with 185 hp and 27.5 kgfm, with a 6-speed automatic transmission in the 4×2 and 9-speed versions with 4×4 traction.

Performance also changes: 8.7 s 210 km/h if front-wheel drive and 9.5 s 202 km/h if all-wheel drive.

If the Jeep runs more, Hyundai makes up for it in terms of consumption. The 1.0 turbo versions are the most economical in almost all measurements, second only to the Renegade 4×2 on the road with gasoline.

Meanwhile, the 4×4 version of the Jeep is always the one that spends the most, and with a significant difference to its rival.

Consumption Crete 1.6 AT Creta 1.0 Turbo Crete 2.0 Renegade 4×2 Renegade 4×4
City – ethanol 7.1 8.3 7.7 7.7 6.4
City – gasoline 9.7 11.9 11.1 10.9 9.0
Road – ethanol 8.1 9.1 8.8 9.0 7.6
Road – gasoline 12.1 12.6 12.4 12.7 10.8

WINNER: A tie.

The Creta is more spacious

The Creta has more generous measurements, with a length of 4.30 m and a wheelbase of 2.61 m, compared to the Renegade’s 4.26 m and 2.57 m, respectively. On the other hand, the Jeep is taller (1.70 x 1.62) and wider (1.80 x 1.79).

But it is the first numbers mentioned that provide more comfort for the rear occupants of the Creta, which also has an air conditioning outlet and a USB port. In the case of the Renegade, legroom is smaller and there is no rear A/C outlet.

The situation gets worse for the Jeep when we talk about the size of the trunk, which is only 320 liters. The current Creta holds 422 liters, while the Action version is even larger, accommodating 431 liters.

WINNER: Crete.

5 year warranty

Here we have a rare and very good situation for consumers: both SUVs offer a 5-year warranty for all versions. This is thanks to the recent change announced by Stellantis, increasing the coverage time for Jeep utilities.

Furthermore, the brand continues to require services every 12,000 km, an interval that is outside the standard for the Brazilian market and which eliminates a stop until 60,000 km in relation to the Creta, which has services every 10,000 km.

Even so, the amounts charged in the case of the Renegade are very high. Proof of this is that, at the end of the five revisions, the total expense reaches almost R$5,000 for the 4×2 versions and R$5,200 for the 4×4 models.

Meanwhile, the Creta varies between R$4,100 and R$4,700, and that’s with six trips to the dealership. Jeep was right to increase the Renegade’s warranty, but perhaps it would be better to reduce the cost of inspections.

The fall of the former leader

The Brazilian market has become accustomed to the Renegade leading the way among SUVs, but that seems to be in the past. Today it is Creta who leads this group, with 13,600 units in the first quarter of 2024.

Jeep’s rival registered only 10,402 models, ranking 8th. Even though the difference doesn’t seem that big, it should increase over the course of the year. In 2023, for example, the Hyundai closed with 65,817 units, while the Renegade had 47,389 sales.

WINNER: Crete.

Conclusion

Crete started losing in the first questions of this comparison, but they turned the game around and won the dispute.

Its victories were in internal space, cost of revisions and sales volume, proving to be a well-balanced SUV.

Meanwhile, the Renegade only won in terms of equipment, especially in the dispute between the entry-level versions.

We still had a tie in prices, which is rare, and in terms of engine, where the Renegade runs more, but the Creta consumes less.
