A Hinoportuna, Academic Tuna at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, is mourning the death of one of its veteran members, João Tiago Matos, known as ‘Ervilha’ in the tuning world, at the age of 36.
On its Facebook page, the tuna laments the premature and “tragic” death of ‘Ervilha’, “a son of the land, a Viennese with soul and heart […]a heart of gold and the soul of a lion, a fighter, a perfectionist, someone who from an early age brought a breath of fresh air and talent and quality to Hinoportuna”.
According to the same publication, João Tiago Matos was the first “member of Hinoportuna to achieve the highest academic degree” of “Exmo. Senhor Doutor, with a doctorate completed at the University of Aveiro”.
“We thus lost a unique figure, a promising young man, a brother, a companion, a son and an exemplary father. We were all poorer and we were not and would never be prepared for this”it reads.
Finally, the tuna informs all followers that the funeral ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 10, at 10:30 am at the Areosa Parish Church, in Viana do Castelo.
