Federal Police arrest two more suspects involved in Marielle’s murder

247 – The Federal Police of Rio de Janeiro served two arrest warrants this Thursday (9) related to the murder of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes, which occurred in March 2018. The targets were identified as Robson Calixto da Fonseca, known as “Peixe”, advisor to politician Domingos Brazão, and military police officer Ronald Alves de Paula, known as “Major Ronald”, appointed as former head of the Muzema militia, in the West Zone of Rio, reports g1.

Calixto da Fonseca was detained by the Federal Police, while Ronald was already serving time in a federal prison. The warrants were issued by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

The arrests occurred after the PGR presented a document to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), including the names of Peixe and Ronald among those accused of the crime. Furthermore, the document denounced the brothers Domingos and Chiquinho Brazão, together with the former head of Rio’s civil police, Rivaldo Barbosa, as the main suspects of being the ones behind the murder of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes.

After a process of analysis of the investigation conducted by the Federal Police, the PGR concluded that the brothers Brazão and Barbosa should be prosecuted and convicted of the crime. In the document delivered to Minister Alexandre de Moraes’ office, the PGR accuses the Brazão brothers of being the ones behind the murder and of being part of a criminal organization. The former civil police officer was also denounced as having ordered the crime.
