A Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a 56-year-old man who strangled his 80-year-old mother to death with a belt, after being “reprimanded” by her.
In a statement sent to the News by the Minuteinspectors reveal that the crime occurred on July 4th of last year, inside a house in Lousada.
He tells the PJ that the detainee, “displeased with a reprimand given by his mother, started an argument with her and, indifferent to the victim’s vulnerability, equipped himself with a belt and strangled her until she became inanimate”.
Only when other family members arrived home, hours later, was the victim transported to the hospital, where his death was declared.
The detainee, with a criminal record for crimes of disobedience, drunk driving, threats and aggravated injuries, will now be present for the first judicial interrogation to apply coercive measures.
