The Porto diocesan structure of the Conference of Religious Institutes of Portugal (CIRP) promoted a reflection on youth and vocations ministry in today’s times.

On April 14th, with around 80 participants and the presence of the auxiliary bishop of Porto, D. Joaquim Dionísio, CIRP – Porto – proposed a conversation with 4 speakers on “What pastoral today?”. A reflection on youth and vocational ministry in today’s different and fast-paced times. It took place in the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Boavista in Porto.

The speakers, Catarina Lobo, psychologist, Diogo Jesus, a committed and active young man in the Parish of Moreira and Vigararia da Maia and member of the Diocesan Council, Sister Ana Paula Franciscana of Our Lady, Father Filipe Resende Missionário Comboniano, moderated by Marta Esteves, were challenged to present their perspective of today’s young people, seeking to reflect on how young people move, what they want and dream of and how they adhere to Christian commitment.

The organizers of the meeting, in the voice of Sister Rosa Carreira, stressed that the main objective of this event of knowledge and sharing was “to walk together, to be a synodal Church on mission”.

In turn, D. Joaquim Dionísio addressed words of encouragement to everyone, highlighting that ecclesiastical work will always be hard, but will always bear fruit.

The meeting concludes with a Eucharist in the parish church of Nossa Senhora da Boavista, preceded by a snack prepared by the Young People of São José Cluny, who are leaving on a mission soon and who presented their education and training project in Guinea- Bissau.
