The Pan-American Mountain Bike Championship has begun. This year’s edition will be held in Utah, in the United States, until next Sunday (12). Last Wednesday (8), the first day of competition, Brazil was already on the podium and Iara Caetano won her second women’s XCE (Cross Country Eliminator) championship. Alin Simões was also in the competition, but finished without a medal.

To win the gold medal in XCE, Iara Caetano crossed the finish line ahead of Colombian Melissa Vargas, who took bronze. Michela Molina, from Ecuador, finished third and won the bronze medal. In addition to Iara, Alin Simões also took part in the race. He came in fifth place and was close to the podium.

Iara Caetano will still compete in the XCC race in Utah. In the event’s schedule, the women’s elite race starts on Friday (10). The XCO events, elite men and women, are scheduled for Sunday (12), the last day of competition.

In addition to the two Brazilians on Wednesday, Brazil also has other representatives in the Pan-American Mountain Bike Championship. For the XCO (Olympic Cross Country), the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) invited José Gabriel, Ulan Gallinski and Gustavo Xavier for the men’s elite and Raiza Gulao, Karen Olimpio and Hersilia Najara for the women’s elite.
