Cocaine, hashish and marijuana: PM seizes almost a kilo of drugs that arrived in Fernando de Noronha on a cargo boat | Living Noronha

The Military Police (PM) seized almost a kilo of drugs, at the Port of Santo Antônio, in Fernando de Noronha, on Wednesday (8). The drugs arrived on the island in a box transported on a cargo boat.

684 grams of cocaine, 58 grams of marijuana and 194 grams of hashish were seized, totaling 932 grams of drugs, according to Lieutenant Alessandra Oliveira, from the Military Police.

“We received information that the drugs would arrive in Noronha on a cargo boat. We mounted the operation with the support of the sniffer dog and were successful”, said the PM lieutenant.

According to the police officer, the cocaine found was ready for consumption. The drugs were sent to a resident of the island whose name was not disclosed. Until the last update of this report, no one had been arrested.

This was the third drug seizure in Fernando de Noronha this second week of May. A man was arrested after leaving a plane at the island’s airport on Sunday (5). The passenger had 214.5 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of skunk — a drug known as “super marijuana” because it has a higher concentration of narcotic substance and is normally produced in a laboratory.

In addition, a resident of the island was also arrested with drugs, but details about this case were not released by the police.

The PM reported that it has reinforced its work to combat drugs in Fernando de Noronha. “This was an outcry from the population. The biggest reports were that drugs arrived through the port and airport. These are the places where we are having success”, said the lieutenant.
