O Ibovespa opened this Thursday’s session (09) with a fall, and at around 11:45 am, the index fell 1.41%, to 127,653 points.

Despite the moderate increase in most United States scholarships this Thursday morning, the score was divided in the decision of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) weighs on Ibovespa today.

Meanwhile, investors still look at relevant balance sheets that price the Ibov todaysuch as Banco do Brasil (BBAS3), Eletrobras (ELET3) and Casas Bahia (BHIA3).

The biggest increase in Ibov is from Rede D’Or (RDOR3), +2.74% to R$30.33, following news of the creation of a hospital network in partnership with Bradesco Seguros. Totvs (TOTS3), +1.60% at R$28.60 and Prio (PRIO3), +1.22% at R$47.12, complete the top-3.

On the negative side, the biggest drop is from Cogna (COGN3), -9.57% to R$ 2.08, followed by Ultrapar (UGPA3), -7.72% to R$ 24.72 and 3R Petroleum (RRRP3) , -6.67% to R$31.08.

Among the companies that reported their 1Q24 balance sheets, Bank of Brazil (BBAS3) falls 4.16% to R$27.20 and Eletrobras (ELET3) loses 5.05% to R$37.58. Outside Ibovespa, Casas Bahia (BHIA3) rises 3.45% to R$7.20.

Market in NY

To the NY scholarships operate at an increase this Thursday, reflecting unemployment insurance claims, which registered 231 thousand in the week, compared to the forecast of 213 thousand.

Asian stocks close mixed

Asian stock markets closed with no single direction this Thursday, with those in mainland China and Hong Kong strengthening after better-than-expected Chinese foreign trade data.

The main Chinese stock index, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.83% to 3,154.32 points, while the less comprehensive Shenzhen Composite advanced 1.34% to 1,796.61 points. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng registered a gain of 1.22%, at 18,537.81 points. Both China and Hong Kong deals were boosted by real estate and semiconductor stocks.

In April, China’s exports expanded by 1.5% annually, slightly higher than expected, after falling significantly in the previous month. Chinese imports jumped 8.4% in April, much more than expected.

Elsewhere in Asia, the day was one of losses: the Japanese Nikkei fell 0.34% in Tokyo, to 38,073.98 points, pressured by electronics and chip stocks, while the South Korean Kospi fell 1.20% in Seoul , at 2,712.14 points, under the weight of financial, internet and automotive sector securities, and Taiex gave up 0.68% in Taiwan, at 20,560.77 points.

In Oceania, the Australian stock market was also in the red, interrupting a sequence of five positive sessions. The S&P/ASX 200 fell 1.06% in Sydney, to 7,721.60 points, due to weakness in banking and consumer-related shares.
