Folding electric bike with fat tires offers affordable price for adventurers

Focusing on low-budget adventurers, Engwe launched a folding electric bicycle model with thick tires and a resistant body for less than US$2,000. The Engine Pro 2.0 is the second adventure model from the company that calls itself a cycling enthusiast looking to offer quality rides at affordable prices.

The Engine Pro 2.0 has a foldable aluminum alloy structure, with a gross weight of 39.8 kg – considered heavy even among electric bicycles. Despite the weight, the company focuses on the model’s foldable and portable characteristics. The bike can fold in up to three steps, with dimensions of 104 x 55 x 84 cm.

Among the main specifications are 20-inch rims wrapped in thick 4-inch wide tires. According to the company, the configuration allows it to withstand the most difficult terrain outside urban regions. Currently, the Engine Pro 2.0 is available for US$1,299, a little more than R$6,500.

According to the company, the suspension fork and a mid-positioned shock absorber attached to the rear are sufficient to handle any rough terrain. The bike also has a small rear luggage rack for carrying essential items. Counting the weight of the rider, the electric bike can support a maximum load of 150 kg.

New model

In 2021, the company released a large folding adventure ebike, confusingly called the Engine Pro – with a 1,000W peak motor, 768Wh battery, cadence sensor, full suspension, and fat, chunky tires. A more powerful next generation has been released.

The new Engine Pro has a 750 W rear hub motor, reaching up to 1,200 watts, with power to help you on steep climbs. Pedal assistance can reach up to 45 km/h on linear terrain, with up to 8 different speeds.

The battery also received an upgrade between one generation and another. The new lithium-ion pack can take the rider up to 109 km per full charge. A color LCD display in the middle of the handlebar shows the main trip data.
