Fugitive mother who killed her daughter is the subject of “A Guarda do Neto”, by Linha Direta

This Thursday’s episode of Linha Direta (9) shows the story “A Guarda do Neto”, in which a mother killed her own daughter, Andréa, to keep her son and is now on the run. The case began to be recorded by the program’s production team in 2007, 17 years ago, but ended up not being shown. Now, the program focuses on reconstructing the crimes and searching for Tânia, the woman identified as the killer.

According to information from TV Globo, the intention is to rescue and update the files, creating a new opportunity for justice to be done. The crimes took place in Paraná, in the same year that the recordings began and, to this day, the woman remains at large and there are no clues as to her whereabouts. Under the command of Pedro Bial, this week’s episode features testimonies from Ivo Rosa, Andréa’s father, and Juliano Saldanha, the victim’s widower.

How was the murder and kidnapping of “A Guarda do Neto”

The case was in 2007, in the city of Quatro Barras, in Paraná, when Andréa Rosa was found dead following an alleged plan by her own mother, who was 42 years old at the time. The then young woman, just 23 years old, lived with her mother and her children until she suffered a serious motorcycle accident. At the time, Tânia de Lorena stated that she could not take care of her daughter and she went to live with her father. However, the grandmother did not want to give up the care of Andréa’s son, Lucas, just 5 years old, and began to fight for custody of the child.

Then, the murder plan began to be made. Tânia and her then partner, Everson Luiz Cilian, went to visit her daughter and even had a family lunch. Andréa was with her son Lucas, and her other daughter, just nine months old. Andréa’s partner, Juliano Saldanha, had lunch with everyone, but had to leave early to go to work. When he returned home, only his mother-in-law and her then-husband were at home with the children. The woman said that Juliano’s wife had gone out with her sister, another of Tânia’s daughters.

To distract young Andréa’s companion, Everson claimed to be feeling ill and asked Juliano to take him to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, Juliano states that he suspected Everson and returned home. At the property, he did not find his children or even his mother-in-law, so he went in search of the children and managed to rescue them. But, Tânia, she ran away. At this point, the police were called and began searching, but without success as to the 23-year-old’s whereabouts. Rumors from neighbors claim that Tânia even said that she would kidnap her grandson and sell her granddaughter for around R$2,000.

The person who found Andréa’s body was her then partner, Juliano. The young woman had a wire around her neck and her body was hidden under the couple’s bed. The police suspect that Tânia killed her daughter, hid the body, and took the children with her. Without being able to have children anymore, the kidnapping would serve to complete the woman’s objective, which would be to have a new life with her then partner.

When does the crime expire and until when can Tânia be arrested for her daughter’s death?

The crime of homicide has a 20-year statute of limitations, when Tânia can no longer be arrested if she is tried and named as the perpetrator. This deadline ends in 2027, with just three years left until that deadline. The aim of the program is precisely to reconstruct the plot, to show what is already known and what can still be done to conclude the case.

In addition, the Hotline seeks to encourage reports about the whereabouts through the Hotline, by number 181. Tânia de Lorena, at the time, was 42 years old, and is currently 59 years old.
