Norwich player arrested after accident under the influence of alcohol

A british television station BBC It was reported this Thursday that Norwich City central defender Shane Duffy was arrested on Monday for driving under the influence of alcohol.

It all happened in Hethersett, a district of Norfolk, near Norwich. The Irish international was involved in a car accident while under the influence of alcohol.

“Police were called at 9:05pm on Monday 6 May following reports of a collision between two vehicles. Emergency services attended the scene and a man, aged in his 30s [Shane Duffy tem 32 anos], was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Wymondham Police Investigation Center for questioning,” a Norfolk police official told the BBC.

His accident did not result in any injuries, but Norwich, who compete in the Championship, said they were “aware of an incident involving one of their first team players”. The Canaries also highlighted that the matter is being “discussed internally”, based on their “disciplinary code”.

This season, 32-year-old Shane Duffy played 38 games for Norwich.
