Pinto Martins International Airport, in Fortaleza, Ceará, has two large Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its apron today, May 9, due to a flight diversion due to a technical problem.

The plane in the terminal is the Boeing 777-300ER registered under registration PT-MUC, which was sent by LATAM this Thursday morning, after the other jet of the same model, registered PT-MUB, was diverted to the capital of Ceará the night before.

The PT-MUB departed from São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos (SP), at 6:32 pm on Wednesday, for flight LA-8146 bound for Lisbon, in Portugal, however, at around 9:20 pm, when departing from Brazilian coast, the pilots began the diversion. According to reports, the aircraft presented a technical problem.

Faced with the technical problem with the PT-MUB, the other 777-300ER took off from Guarulhos towards Fortaleza at 7:29 am this Thursday. PT-MUC’s arrival was captured on live camera at 10:20 am, while the live stream showed PT-MUB standing in the courtyard.

AEROIN requested more information from LATAM and the company provided the following statement, detailing that the flight will depart on Thursday night:

“LATAM Airlines Brasil informs that flight LA8146 (São Paulo/Guarulhos-Lisbon) last Wednesday (May 8) was diverted to Fortaleza due to the need for unscheduled corrective maintenance of the aircraft. The company is offering full assistance to passengers, who will be reaccommodated on the special flight LA9510 (Fortaleza-Lisbon) scheduled to take off at 8:50 pm this Thursday (May 9). LATAM regrets the inconvenience and reinforces that it adopts all necessary measures for a safe operation.”
