In a video posted on a social network (see below) This Thursday (9) the Secretary of Health of Montes Claros, Dulce Pimenta, announced that 47 ICU beds and 13 infirmary beds are being opened.

The new occupations arise when the municipality – which is a reference in health for other cities in the region – deals with difficulties in admitting children, including the death of an eight-year-old girl, who was waiting for a place in the ICU.

“At this time of crisis, with an increase in acute respiratory syndromes, the municipality of Montes Claros, through the public health emergency decree, was able to purchase more pediatric beds to meet this situation”, said Dulce Pimenta.

The secretary also stated that Montes Claros had 12 pediatric ICU beds and that the new vacancies will be made available at Santa Casa, Hospital Universitário and Hospital das Clínicas Mário Ribeiro. An agreement was signed between the City Hall and the health units.

The HU vacancies, which should open from next week, will have equipment from the unit itself, which is linked to the State University of Montes Claros (Unimontes). The beds at Mário Ribeiro are already in operation.

Municipal emergency decree

“Partial intervention is determined, by the Municipal Health Department of Montes Claros, in the regulation and occupancy of pediatric beds in the Unified Health System – SUS, in the municipality of Montes Claros”, established the decree.

“The municipality of Montes Claros is a hub in the Northern Macroregion and, therefore, has the largest hospital providers in the region, as well as the availability of highly complex services. To this end, it receives federal resources through the PPI, as well as state resources, through through the various agreed policies, such as Valora Minas, to maintain the provision of services to the SUS.”

According to the SES note, when a patient needs a bed in an urgent and emergency situation, a transfer/hospitalization request is entered into the SUSfácilMG system, with detailed information about the case. The request is received by the Regional Assistance Regulation Center, which searches for a bed in the macro-region of origin and/or throughout the entire territory of Minas Gerais.

The video below shows interviews with the Secretary of Health of MG, Fábio Baccheretti, and the Secretary of Health of Montes Claros, Dulce Pimenta, on MG1 last Tuesday (7). They talk about the measures adopted and what is being done to try to resolve the lack of beds.
