Firefighters were called at around 3:50 p.m. Due to the severity of the injuries, a corporation helicopter was called to rescue and take the victim to a health unit. Even with the quick help, Paulo did not survive his injuries.

Witnesses reported on social media that the motorcyclist was trapped under the truck.

The accident temporarily closed the section of Avenida Nelson Cardoso, near Rua Bacaris. The collision happened in the direction of Barra da Tijuca, but, for the helicopter to arrive, both directions needed to be closed. At 7:10 pm, the entire stretch was reopened.

The incident also had an impact on the BRT service. Mobi-Rio reported that the section between Taquara and Aracy Cabral stations, towards Madureira, on Transcarioca, was temporarily interrupted. Lines 35 (Madureira x Alvorada), 46 (Penha x Alvorada) and 41 (Madureira x Terminal Recreio) have irregular intervals.

According to the Civil Police, the case was registered at the 32nd DP (Taquara). Forensic examination was requested at the scene and agents were interviewing those involved and witnesses. Other efforts are underway to seek images from security cameras in the region and clarify the circumstances of the accident.
