We said previously that poverty is a lack of knowledge, of a relationship with God, of mental work, of character. All of this is behind poverty. I’m not saying that poor people don’t have God.

People sometimes hear things and misinterpret them. I’m talking about a set of factors that cause poverty in human beings, more than the lack of resources. The world is full of resources and human beings have the intelligence to thrive even in the desert (like in the Middle East). And when I say “lack of relationship with God”, we see that when the people of Israel were right with God, naturally, things went well. And when the people turned their backs on God, they turned to other gods who promised riches, what followed was misery.

This does not mean that a person who has God does not experience precariousness from time to time. You may be a person filled with the Holy Spirit, but because of circumstances, you go through a complicated situation. For example: Abraham went through a period of famine, so he moved to Egypt in search of food (Read Genesis 12.10). But God always supported him. As Paul said: “I don’t say this out of necessity, because I’ve already learned to be content with what I have. I know how to be dejected, and I also know how to have abundance; in every way and in all things I am instructed, both to be full and to be hungry; both to have abundance and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11-13).

The main wealth of people who walk with God is exactly this certainty: I will always be guaranteed. Maybe you are a person of God, but you listened to the voice of your heart and did business with a person who was not of God and he scammed you, taking your money. God does not stop us from making wrong decisions. And we reaped the fruits of that. It is not because you believe in God that you are exempt from bad decisions.

But one thing is certain: if you walk with God, your poverty will be temporary. A person doing the right things will end up being successful in their work.

What I want to say to you who have a privileged financial life is: don’t rely on your money. And the poor should not use poverty to remain poor. The wealth that God gives us is from faith. He will give you direction and you will get out of this situation. Don’t think: “I don’t have studies, my family is poor”. You have the faith. God sustained the people in the desert through faith. Faith teaches us. And faith makes you walk on justice, a solid foundation, so as not to lose in the future.
