The first complete, uncut and remastered edition of Zeca Afonso’s concert at Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon, in 1983, is released this Friday on digital platforms and in the physical format of triple LP and double CD.

This edition of the album “Ao vivo no Coliseu” takes place within the scope of the full recovery of the recorded work of the composer of “Grândola, vila morena”, undertaken in 2021 by the publisher Mais 5, in agreement with the musician’s family, to make available 11 albums published between 1968 and 1981, out of print and unavailable for years.

Once this rescue phase was concluded, which restored titles such as “Cantigas do Maio” (1971) and “Venham Mais Cinco” (1973), the publisher resumed a new cycle of publications, to be concluded in 2025, which will include the albums “Galinhas do Mato ” and “Como se Fora seu Filho”, the edition of José Afonso’s first recordings in digital and remastered singles, and also a “reinterpretation project” of the musician’s work, “Wanderer Songs”, which should mobilize names like Nacho Vegas and Selma Uamusse.

The new edition of “Ao vivo no Coliseu” presents for the first time the full version of the concert from January 29, 1983, one of the last performances by Zeca Afonso, who would die in February 1987.
