Starting this Monday (13th), Cine Teatro Ouro Verde will enchant moviegoers with a film as gentle as the flapping of a bee’s wings. The feature film, winner of three Goya Awards, the most important award in Spanish cinema, “20,000 Species of Bee” will run until next Wednesday (15), with screenings at 4pm and 7:30pm. The indicative rating is 14 years old.
Amid the beehives and bucolic landscapes of the Basque Country, an 8-year-old girl struggles with the fact that people keep addressing her in confusing ways. As she explores her own identity and femininity alongside the women in her family, the girl grapples with an uncertain home environment, the pains of growing up, and the kindness of human connection.
In her first feature film, Spanish Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren brings a moving narrative that, above all, makes the viewer identify with the protagonist, played by actress Sofía Otero. In this way, the audience, like the bees, connects through the shared and felt experiences in each scene.
In addition to Otero, who won the Best Performance award at the Berlin Film Festival with the film, the cast also includes Patricia López Arnaiz, Ane Gabarain, Itziar Lazkano and Sara Cózar.
Tickets
Tickets can be purchased at the box office of Cine Teatro Ouro Verde (R. Maranhão, n°85, Centro), 30 minutes before each session. The whole ticket costs R$20.00 and the half costs R$10.00. Cards are not accepted. On Monday (13th) and in the 4pm sessions, everyone pays half. On other days, students, teachers, regular blood donors, people over 60, members of the OAB or Journalists Union and public servants are entitled to half-price. Teachers or facilitators with five or more students are exempt from the entrance fee.
