The environmental association Quercus released this Friday the list of beaches classified as “Golden Quality” for 2024.
This year, 356 beaches are classified with this quality, 38 fewer than in the 2023 bathing season, with the Tagus/West and North regions recording the biggest increase.
Alentejo receives this distinction on 25 beaches, 10 in the municipality of Grândola, 8 in Odemira, 2 in Santiago do Cacém, 3 in Sines, 1 in Mourão and 1 in Reguengos de Monsaraz.
It is worth remembering that the “Golden Quality Beach” award given by Quercus annually distinguishes the quality of bathing water on Portuguese beaches, based on available official public information. To receive the award, bathing water must meet several criteria, such as “excellent” water quality in the annual classification of the five bathing seasons prior to the last and all analyzes carried out in the last bathing season, in this case 2023.
