The postponement of the negotiation process that allows us to foresee the real willingness of the Government to value nurses, as was its commitment, in the electoral campaign and later in its program, left no alternative other than to carry out this strike.

The problems are identified and there are proposed solutions.

Every day that passes, the pressure on nurses, regardless of where they work, increases.

The structural lack, aggravated by the increase in requests for dismissal from duties, creates almost insurmountable difficulties that guarantee some balance in the organization of shifts, a balance between more and less experienced nurses, a factor that has led to an increase in situations of harassment and violence against professionals. .

There is no “Motivation Plan” that combats the lack of safe working conditions and, in some cases, minimizes the feeling of hostility that is reported by many nurses.

If this pattern continues, it will be difficult for young people who complete their Nursing Degree in June to work in the National Health Service.

The Ministry of Health/Government knows the difficulties that exist in hiring and retaining nurses. Postponing measures that minimize the problem is to continue the path of degradation of the public health service.

Given the high level of participation in the strike, it is required that the ULS administrations have already, as required by law, contacted patients/users who would have scheduled interventions, be they surgeries, consultations or complementary diagnostic tests.
