Paola Oliveira opened up about feminism, self-esteem and career during an interview on Manu Xavier’s YouTube channel. The actress reinforced her position on the subject of aesthetic pressure. “Standards are not about the body, they are about behavior. People say, ‘but you’ve changed now’. There are how much things suffocate us, how much we become aware of some things, behaviors that we had and that no longer fits you”, he said.

The artist, who has had a career spanning more than 20 years, also explained how art transformed her life. “This profession brought me a light, I was just restless, crazy, dissatisfied… because I had a lot of energy inside me and I didn’t know how to dissipate all that energy. Creation brought me to a very contained, scared, nervous place. He was a person who didn’t show up for life. I went into the arts and discovered a new world, I didn’t even know I was going to make money.”

“This profession gives me the possibility of connecting with other women… I’m out of survival mode and I’m seeing myself through new eyes. We’re in modus operandi of the life of performing all the time. We don’t realize, even success overwhelms us, if you are successful you have to have another success. It becomes an expectation of yourself, it generates a level of anxiety, pressure… soon you won’t even be able to stand it anymore. I’m trying to take care of this exercise. Living the most peaceful life is making me shine,” completed.

She also revealed that she didn’t feel good about sensual scenes at the beginning of her career. “My work has had me doing sex scenes, people have a voyeur with scenes like this, right… it’s in our lives, people. These scenes speak much more about who is watching than who is doing it. This came up several times in my life and I wanted to get out of it. I thought it was a bad place they were putting the woman, putting me. And they were going to leave me alone. I wasn’t satisfied with that. I said: ‘I don’t want this, I’m going to get out of there’. From the clothes I was trying to hide to or when they talked about those scenes, I took matters into my own hands.”

“But I put myself in a skin comfortable: ok, that’s part of life. My body is my body, it is used for my work, it is used to move me through this life, yes. Sensual with curves, with the body that I could have at 20, 30, 40, but with the power that it has. I clearly made this exchange. People say ‘you look prettier’. Because I am better placed in this power by being sensual… I live a moment of lucidity for the woman I have become, even opening new paths for myself”continued.
