The Federal Police (PF) arrested a foreigner on Wednesday (8) who tried to board a flight carrying a 1 kg gold bar hidden in his luggage. The man, a Chinese national, was detained because he did not present any legal documentation identifying the origin of the gold.
According to the PF, the passenger was stopped when he went through routine inspection, which detected the presence of a high-density object inside one of his hand luggage.
When they opened the bag to investigate, the agents found the gold bar, which was wrapped in dark plastic tape and aluminum foil, in an attempt to deceive the inspectors.
Despite not having presented the appropriate documentation, the passenger reported that he had purchased the gold in Brazil, for 69 thousand dollars. His destination was Congonhas airport, in São Paulo.
The man was arrested red-handed for committing the crime of usurpation of union assets and the gold bar was seized by the PF.
