Marielle’s murder turns 6 years old, and the Chamber session will pay tribute to the Rio councilor

The murders of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes complete six years this Thursday (14), and a session in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies on March 26 will pay tribute to the two, shot dead in an ambush in Rio de Janeiro on March 14, 2018.

The request for a solemn session in honor of Marielle and Anderson was filed with the President of the Chamber in January by federal deputy Talíria Petrone (Psol-RJ). The document is signed by 14 other parliamentarians: Guilherme Boulos (Psol-SP), Chico Alencar (Psol-RJ), Sâmia Bomfim (Psol-SP), Tarcísio Motta (Psol-RJ), Ivan Valente (Psol-SP), Fernanda Melchionna (Psol-RS), Luiza Erundina (Psol-SP), Erika Hilton (Psol-SP), Luciana Cavalcante (Psol-SP), Célia Xakriabá (Psol-MG), Glauber Braga (Psol-RJ), Zeca Dirceu ( PT-PR), Pastor Henrique Vieira (Psol-RJ) and Jorge Solla (PT-BA).

Initially, in the request, Talíria Petrone requested that the session take place on March 19; however, it ended up being scheduled for the 26th, and may not even happen, as deputies may decide to extend the Holy Week holiday.

Unsolved crime. The murders of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes remain unsolved. The elucidation of the crime, however, advanced last year with the developments in the plea bargain of former military police officer Élcio Queiroz. In addition to him, the following are arrested for the crime: Ronnie Lessa and Maxwell Corrêa, known as Suel.
